On leaving high school, I decided to get my feet wet by entering the world of construction. I’m no stranger to the construction trade as I started out as a teenager working for my Dad, and Uncle George.

My first job was helping Uncle George make custom cabinets, and then installing them. During the summer months I built Viceroy homes all over Ontario. Soon, I ventured out into home and office renovations. That’s where I found my place.

My big break came in 1984 when I was working on a project on Queen St., in downtown Toronto. I was handed a set of drawings by Michael Gotkin, then of The Gotkin Group Inc., to do some major renovations to a house. I made a quote but didn’t get the job. However, I did know it was time to start my own construction company.

After being in business some 16 years, I can still remember some of the things my Dad and Uncle always said. “Give the customer what they want, and don’t take shortcuts to get there.” Another one that really sticks, that I quote all the time, is “Do Quality before Quantity.”

This is what I’ve based my business on over the years. No job is too big or too small to handle. I’m in business for the long haul.
